Setting the policy vision for financial planning
Consultation on Evolution of Advice: The Financial Planning Professional from 2020 – 2025
As we look ahead and think about the next five years, what do we envision for the future of financial planning? What conversations, policies, advocacy and changes need to take place as we go through this rapid period of professional evolution?
The FPA is calling on members to contribute their views on the major issues likely to impact our profession from 2020 – 2025, in order to help us craft the FPA’s new policy platform. This platform will underpin the policy and advocacy work of the FPA to champion the needs of consumers and financial planners alike.
This work builds on the success of the FPA’s 2014 landmark white paper on the future of the financial planning profession that provided a vision for elevating the profession and building consumer trust. Ten key milestones were provided and over the last five years, nine of them have since been adopted.
Our evolving vision for the profession’s next five years is discussed in the FPA paper, Evolution of Advice: The Financial Planning Profession from 2020 to 2025. The paper considers the major issues that will affect the profession over the next five years, including:
- the affordability of advice
- how financial planners interact with their clients
- the health of the profession
- trust in financial planning
- regulators and regulation
