National Roadshows support advisers with retirement planning under the latest legislative developments

Financial planners will be gathering in Geelong today to kick off the 2015 FPA National Roadshows, which will visit 33 locations across the nation during April, May and June, and focus on best practice in retirement planning and advice on industry reforms.

Over 2,000 people have already registered for the roadshows, with the FPA expecting significantly more interest prior to the final events in Sunraysia and Wollongong on the 23rd of June.

Mark Rantall, CEO of the FPA, said that the high numbers are a clear indication that advisers are keen to gain further insight from experts on how to provide best practice advice on retirement planning and are seeking clarification on legislation updates.

“The aim of the current series of roadshows is to equip advisers with a workbook of strategies and tools that can be tailored to their clients’ specific retirement goals,” said Mr Rantall.

“Research from Investment Trends has shown that being prepared for retirement is one of the top financial concerns for Australians and this is why we decided to focus the 2015 National Roadshows on this segment of financial advice.

“The FPA leadership team will share case studies and practical solutions with advisers on how to implement best practice retirement planning that meets advisers’ best interest duty and professional obligations.”

Challenger and Zenith Investment Partners are partnering with the FPA on the National Roadshows and they will discuss:

  • How to use an asset allocation approach to constructing defensive client portfolios that can protect clients from longevity, inflation and market risk
  • How the specific requirements of retirees drive a different approach to portfolio construction
  • Modelling outcomes using case studies on how a variety of income streams can be blended together to provide income certainty and technical benefits

The roadshows are also open to non-FPA members and all attendees will be accredited with 2 CPD Points. All roadshows are free of charge and they will include Q&A sessions with FPA experts and complimentary breakfast or lunch.

Registrations to the roadshows are still open, but filling fast. To register and check event dates for regional and city locations, please visit www.fpa.com.au/roadshow.
