FPA Roadshows to guide planners on the path to higher professional standards

The 2017 Financial Planning Association of Australia (FPA) National Roadshow will provide members with the chance to learn more about the FPA Professional Ongoing Fees Code and hear the latest news on legislative developments impacting the profession.

Kicking off in Frankston, south-east Melbourne on Wednesday 26 April, the 2017 FPA Roadshow will visit 33 locations nationally from April to June, and is open to FPA members and non-members. The FPA has partnered with Platinum Asset Management for the event. Registration for each location is now open and expected to fill quickly after a record attendance of over 3,000 delegates last year.

Dante De Gori CFP®, FPA CEO, said: “The annual FPA National Roadshow is an important opportunity to meet with members face to face around the country. We know there is a lot of change happening in our profession, so this is a great opportunity for members to come and ask their questions.

“Members can hear about the latest legislative developments impacting our profession, and we’ll provide delegates with some tools to help implement the forthcoming FPA Professional Ongoing Fees Code.

“The Code will be available from 1 July 2017 to FPA practitioner members (CFP® professionals and Financial Planner AFP® categories) and gives FPA members an alternative to the opt-in laws when engaging clients in an Ongoing Fee Arrangement.

“We’ll also give members the very latest updates on the education and professional standards legislation that was approved by Parliament on 9 February. This legislation will be effective from 1 July 2017.

“Ultimately, our aim is to guide members on how to adapt to changes in legislation, and help them meet the education and professional standards required by the profession, and consumers.”

At this year’s roadshows, Platinum looks forward to providing advisers with some insights on how to identify investment opportunities beyond the headlines and, in particular, how to capitalise on global markets at a time of enormous change and disruption. Platinum will share with the audience their approach to investing and how they seek to identify under-valued businesses against transient market sentiments.

Attendees will earn two CPD hours. Each session will include Q&A time.
