FPA joins global financial planning community to celebrate first World Financial Planning Day

The Financial Planning Association of Australia (FPA) is delighted to announce that Financial Planning Standards Board (FPSB), the global licensing body for the CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER®/CFP® designation, will host the first World Financial Planning Day on Wednesday, 4 October during the International Organization of Securities Commissions’ (IOSCO) World Investor Week.

IOSCO’s World Investor Week is a global campaign from 2-8 October designed to raise global awareness about the importance of investor education and protection around the world. As part of the global campaign, the FPA will be supporting the event by publishing new articles on its Money & Life website, sharing insights from its Live the Dream 2017 research report and joining in on the global social media conversation.

“IOSCO recognises that the need for investor education and protection has never been greater, and we are pleased that FPSB has rallied the global financial planning community to support World Investor Week,” said Paul Andrews, IOSCO Secretary General.

Commenting on World Financial Planning Day, Dante De Gori CFP®, CEO of the FPA, said he is thrilled that the FPA will be supporting the initiative that will empower more consumers to take control of their finances and their futures.

“In Australia and around the world there is a need to increase the level of financial literacy and capability, and to help consumers understand the value of financial planning and making investment choices within the context of financial and life goals.

“World Financial Planning Day is a great initiative that will raise awareness of the financial planning profession and how FPA members can help Australians save and invest to improve their financial wellbeing and build a better future. We look forward to celebrating this special day with the global financial planning community.”

During World Financial Planning Day, FPSB and its network of member organisations representing a global community of over 170,000 CFP® professionals, will provide programs to promote consumer awareness and understanding of financial planning topics including debt management; preparing for an unexpected financial emergency; home ownership; building savings; investment planning; and preparing for retirement.
