Financial planners asked to nominate their favourite charity

Future2, the philanthropic arm of the Financial Planning Association of Australia (FPA), is calling for FPA members to nominate a local not-for-profit organisation for its Make the Difference! Grants program.

FPA COO Pene Lovett, says the $823,000 in grants that Future2 has given out since 2007 has funded life changing projects.

“Through the generosity and fundraising efforts of FPA members and friends, Future2 has been able to provide annual grants to aid non-for-profits with a mission to support the upcoming generation of Australians to lead happy and financially secure lives,” Ms. Lovett says.

The young people benefitting from Future2 grants include those who are outside mainstream education, living with intellectual or physical disability, fighting an addiction, living in dysfunctional families, in juvenile justice, or new migrants seeking a place in their adopted home.

The grants are open to not-for-profits around Australia that provide opportunities for under 25s to develop learning and leadership skills, receive mentoring, participate in remedial programs for drug and alcohol dependence, and take part in independent living projects that help address social exclusion and homelessness.

“There are countless organisations doing great work in every corner of Australia. We encourage FPA members to shine a light on them by nominating them for a grant. Last year, Future2 was able to award $133,000 in grants and through the generous support from FPA members, we hope to surpass this for 2018,” Ms. Lovett, says.

All applications must be endorsed by a licensed financial planner who is a member of the FPA. Nominations close Friday 20 July 2018. The grants will be announced during the FPA Professionals Congress, to be held in Sydney from 21-23 November 2018.
