Women in Financial Planning

The FPA’s Women in Financial Planning program is designed to attract more women to the profession and to foster community, innovation and leadership amongst existing financial planners.

As part of (formerly FPA Women in Wealth), this October, we’re launching a three part series. Take the handbrake off your success is designed to help you and your team members be even more remarkable in your workplace and contribute to business growth. The series will:

  • Enable you to learn about your mindset and question whether it supports your career or business aspirations
  • Help you understand the value you bring to the table and to address the beliefs that may be holding you back
  • Provide practical, simple tools to ensure you communicate effectively, whether it’s about going after an opportunity or effectively handling something we all find uncomfortable – conflict.

At each session, you’ll hear from a panel of women in financial planning who’ll share their career stories, how they have overcome their challenges and the lessons they’ve learnt. You’ll also receive downloadable activities and a workbook to use and to share with your team. To help get the most out of the series, the sessions are designed in a sequence and it’s encouraged that you attend all three.

We’re proud to be partnering with Macquarie on this new series facilitated by Suzanne Mercier, Founder and CEO of Purpose to Profit.

The series is free for FPA members and all members are welcome to participate.

Diversity & inclusion makes sound business sense

Take the handbrake off your success is part of designed to benefit our members by fostering community, innovation and leadership. Women make great financial planners… yet are under-represented in having long-term careers in advice.

As we approach 2021, the good news is 39% of our FPA student membership are women. For the growth of our profession, it’s important for our FPA community to support transparent and structured pathways for women to develop their careers in financial planning so we can meet growing demand from clients to work with female financial planners.

In an increasingly competitive business environment, gender diversity can provide you with a competitive edge, increasing your team’s creativity, productivity, boosting business growth and enhancing your brand reputation.
