Scott has worked as a Financial Planner since January 1994. During this period he has been a Principal and Adviser in two separate offices. In 1999 he was selected as being in the Top 50 financial planners in Australia by Personal Investment magazine. Scott has also continuously been the regular Financial Planning talkback and consultative specialist on ABC radio since 1999.

Scott Donoghue holds a Masters Degree in Financial Planning from the University of Sunshine Coast and a Diploma of Financial Planning. He also holds the internationally recognised CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER® qualification from the Financial Planning Association of Australia (FPA).

Scott is a born and bred Hobartian, happy to be working in Tassie after several years studying and working on the mainland. He graduated from the Australian Catholic University (Victoria) with a Diploma of Teaching, and then completed a Graduate Diploma of Applied Science at Deakin Unviersity. He spent several years working as a primary school teacher and later worked in computer-based training. In 1993, he decided to follow in his father’s footsteps and moved into Financial Planning.

Scott is passionate about his career in Financial Planning. He relishes the intellectual challenge and personal satisfaction that he gains from helping solve the financial conundrums normal people face, particularly pre-retirees and retirees. People’s personal circumstances change, as do rules and legislation, meaning that his knowledge and advice constantly evolves.

Outside of giving financial advice, Scott thrives on being a good husband and father, and much enjoying coaching his children’s sports teams. He has given back to the community through pro bono work in his profession from time to time over the last 27 years, and he has also sat on the Board of the children’s Charity Edmund Rice Camps for the past 15 years.
