FPA 10 Point Plan

During 2014, the FPA released a landmark White Paper on the Future of the Financial Planning Profession, outlining our vision for financial planning, as we seek to build consumer trust and confidence in Australia’s financial advice community.

In this document, we put forward an FPA 10 Point Plan to prepare our profession for the necessary steps towards higher education and professional standards, a clear separation between product and advice, professional autonomy for financial planners and ultimately, higher quality financial advice.

By uniting in support of higher standards, we can stand with Australians for a better financial future.

Both the White Paper and FPA 10 Point Plan have been developed in line with the FPA Professional Framework and Four Policy Pillars.

Growing support for the FPA 10 Point Plan

The spotlight is firmly on education and professional standards. Now more than ever, we have an opportunity to shape the future of financial planning and advance our journey towards becoming a respected profession.

During 2014, the FPA 10 Point Plan received support from key Parliamentary Inquiries and Independent Reviews looking at the regulatory regimes of financial planners, and financial services more generally. Many of the recommendations made have reflected the FPA 10 Point Plan and we have captured our progress below:
