Gippsland Chapter Member Seminar

Wednesday, 2 March 3:00pm – 4:30pm

The FPA Gippsland Chapter Committee, in conjunction with Platinum Asset Management invites you to attend a Member Seminar on “Opportunities in Global Markets” – on Wednesday 2 March 2016.

At this event you will hear from guest speaker Douglas Isles, Investment Specialist at Platinum Asset Management.

Presentation Snap Shot

  • Market outcomes are driven largely part by human behaviour.
  • By focussing on out of favour companies and markets, Platinum has added considerable value over time
  • Unlike any other global managers we are aware of, Platinum today has more money invested in China than any other country
  • These opportunities in China today are focussed on the Consumer ; the media is focussed on a slowdown in investment

Platinum has a world-class record of more than 20 years of investing in Global Equities from Sydney, delivering more than twice market returns in the flagship Platinum International Fund whilst creating substantial value across all its regional and sector funds.  At its core, Platinum’s approach could be viewed as Applied Behavioural Finance.  In “Opportunities in Global Markets”, Douglas will address some of the behavioural challenges investors face and use this framework to illustrate how Platinum sees the world today. With China moving away from investment –driven growth this is a particularly important time for Australian investors to be thinking about their overseas exposure; foreign stock exchanges hold most of the beneficiaries of this rapidly changing world.

Afternoon tea, coffee and cakes will be served! We hope to see you at this seminar.
