Geelong Chapter ASX Regional Adviser Breakfast
Thursday 1 November 7:15am to 9:00am
Dr Shane Oliver will present ‘Investment Markets in 2018 and beyond’ and provide his guidance on how he expects global and local markets to perform in 2019, and what risks investors should be considering.
The global economy is finally emerging from its post-Global Financial Crisis (GFC) hangover. 2017 saw a combination of low interest rates, low inflation, low volatility and high profits for businesses which provided a fertile ground for growth assets.
But the investment cycle is ever changing and 2018 presents a whole raft of new risks to consider:
• US inflation
• Bond Yields
• Trump (again)
• Italian Election
• Domestic Residential Property Market
This will be followed by a panel / Q&A session with representatives from Platinum, Legg Mason, AMP Capital, and Desktop Broker
The session will be moderated by the ASX and will provide an opportunity to hear insights into key investment thematics across multi-asset strategies, opportunities in international and emerging markets and solving for longevity risk and growing real income for your clients.
The morning will be tied off with a discussion around the ASX bi-Annual Australian investor Study exploring the consumer’s attitudes towards advice and why they will or don’t seek advice. We will also hear the ASX is more than just shares and that there are over 580 other investment options via multiple product structures covering all asset classes for advisers to create diversified portfolios with a dive into the new “Active ETFs” or Exchange Traded Managed Funds.
