Queensland Australian of the Year to address 2016 FPA Professionals Congress

Queensland Australian of the Year, writer and broadcaster Catherine McGregor AM will be the speaker for the annual Women in Financial Planning Breakfast at the Financial Planning Association (FPA) Professionals Congress in Perth.

Dante De Gori CFP®, CEO of the FPA said Catherine is an ideal fit for this year’s event.

“In line with this year’s Congress theme, ‘Future Ready’, Catherine will share her life’s journey of survival in the face of personal challenges,” said Mr De Gori.

Catherine McGregor was named Queensland Australian of the Year for her service as an advocate for the transgender community. She also holds the Order of Australia for her exceptional service to the Australian Army where service spanned nearly four decades in a range of strategic planning and operational roles.

“Catherine’s bold story of courage, resilience and being true to yourself is very powerful. She’s also made an outstanding contribution to the understanding of gender diversity and variation, and will provide breakfast attendees with an inspirational perspective on these issues and more,” said Mr De Gori.

The Women in Financial Planning Breakfast will take place from 7:30am on Friday 25 November 2016 as part of the FPA Professionals Congress. It is an opportunity for Congress delegates to network and hear a prominent female role model.

The breakfast complements an impressive program of 24 workshops presented by top industry experts and inspiring keynote speakers from a range of fields, including Olympian Anna Meares OAM, broadcaster Andrew Denton, Socceroos head coach Ange Postecoglou and sports journalist Tracey Holmes.
